You're not invisible. But you might as well be.
You know what phrase makes me wince every time?
“Oh wow, I didn’t even know we had a brewery in this town!”
Oof. That one stings.
Because it usually comes from someone standing 10 minutes from your taproom.
And no amount of SEO, boosted Instagram posts or Reels is going to fix that on its own.
Sometimes, the best way to get noticed in your own garden is exactly what the big beer brands can’t do:
👀 Show up in person 🗞️ Get into the postbox 🗣️ Be part of the conversation on the ground
Local print, community noticeboards, event programmes, church newsletters, school fetes, village galas, WI groups, Rotary Clubs, local business breakfasts, pub quiz prize donations… it might not all show up as a neat little ROI report. But it will show up in something better:
“We keep hearing about you.”
And that matters.
Because being known locally is a cheat code. Locals bring mates. Mates bring more mates. And suddenly you’ve got a packed taproom, a buzzing events calendar, and a beer that feels like it belongs in the community.
Don’t overthink it.
Don’t wait for the perfect strategy.
Just start by being where your neighbours already are.
Let people notice you.
Then give them a reason to come in.
